Christy McGillivray - Executive Director

In July of 2025 Christy McGillivray joined Voters Not Politicians as the Executive Director. She has over twenty years of experience across the fields of education and non-partisan political and policy advocacy. Her past roles as an advocate include working as the Legislative and Political Director for Sierra Club Michigan; Organizer with the American Federation of Teachers, Michigan; and Campaigns Director and Field Manager for Michigan Clean Water Action. Christy taught Earth Science, Chemistry, and Physics at Eastpointe Highschool, outdoor STEM education at the Farmington Hills Nature Center, Early American History and Literature at Lawrence Technological University, and Comparative Education Policy at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. Christy is committed to spending the rest of her life ensuring the people most affected by policies have a voice in shaping those policies, and preserving an accountability pathway for elected officials based on the policy decisions they make. In short, Christy is here to fight for our democracy. Decades of experience have made it clear to her that a healthy, functioning democracy is the best way to deliver for all Michiganders.
If she's not spending her spare time hiking and paddling in the Upper Peninsula with her partner, daughter, and two dogs, Christy can probably be found in Wayne State University's Reuther archive combing through primary documents from the 1930s.
