Hilary Doe
Hilary Doe is Michigan’s first Chief Growth Officer—and the first of any state in the country. As Chief Growth Officer, Hilary leads the state’s efforts to grow Michigan’s population, economy, and reputation as the best place to live, work, raise a family, and start a business. Hilary works alongside the Growing Michigan Together Council on a once-in-a-generation effort to grow Michigan’s population, boost economic growth, and make Michigan the place everyone wants to call home.
Hilary is a purpose-driven executive and thought leader. A proven builder of organizations, she has dedicated her career to facilitating robust citizen engagement. Most recently, Hilary was the President of NationBuilder, the world’s most-used software for advocacy and engagement, with customers in over 100 countries worldwide. She was responsible for the company's growth strategy, with expertise in the strategies that make leaders and movements effective in this era.
Hilary is the Founder of Scout —a state-based policy organization focused on designing ideas and narratives that build a future with more shared prosperity.
Hilary also served as National Director of the Roosevelt Institute, growing the think tank to be the nation’s largest policy and leadership development organization.
Hilary has received national recognition and coverage for her work from the Francis Perkins Center, the National Academy of Social Insurance, Washington Post, The Nation, and NPR, among others. In addition, Roosevelt went on to receive the highest honor in the world of social good, MacArthur Foundation’s Award for Creative and Effective Institutions.
After nearly a decade in New York, Hilary (a native Michigander) and her family are now proud residents of Detroit, MI.
